Pichai: Google to slow hiring for rest of 2020 due to COVID-19

Platform Industry Executive: Google CEO

Google will slow hiring for the rest of the year, CEO Sundar Pichai told staff in an Email circulated to employees on Wednesday.

“We’ll be slowing down the pace of hiring, while maintaining momentum in a small number of strategic areas, and on-boarding the many people who’ve been hired but haven’t started yet”, a Google spokesperson said.

In addition, the company will adjust its investments in areas such as data centres and marketing amid the pandemic.

Bloomberg was first to report this news earlier in the day.
